Multiple sclerosis is caused by damage caused to the myelin sheath. The myelin sheath protects the nerve cells. When this is damaged there nerve communication and impulses are slowed down considerably. This damage of the nerves is caused by inflammation. This is when the body has a type of autoimmune responses in which the body attacks its own cells.

This disease is caused by damage to the Myelin sheath, the protective covering that surrounds nerve cells. Damage to the nerves are as a result of inflammation, especially repeated inflammation to certain areas. This affects the brain and spinal cord which results in loss of muscle control, vision, balance and sensation.

Some researchers have speculated that mothers who are not exposed to enough sunlight may be more likely to have children with Multiple Sclerosis. This is because babies born in late winter seem to have a higher incidence of the disease. At this time however, no one really knows the true cause of multiple sclerosis.

Currently, there is no definitive cause for multiple sclerosis. There are some theories that involve genetic variation that can predispose patients to the disease, certain environmental factors, and infections. It is believed that a combination of these cause the disease.

MS (Multiple sclerosis) is an autoimmune disease that targets the nervous system. Unfortunately there is not a specific cause of MS. Most agree that the disease is passed along genetically. There is some belief among experts that there can be an environmental influence as well.

Genetic variations (certain people are easier to have this disease), decreased of sunlight exposure, lack of vitamin D, severe stress, smoking, toxins, infections (herpes viruses, measles, mumps, rubella). It usually need combination of some of those above to cause the disease.
