Clomid induces ovulation and can sometimes cause more than one ova to be released. It is a common cause for multiple pregnancy - ie twins and triplets. People on clomid are more likely to have twins that people who ovulate naturally without clomid. However this is nothing to worry about as the outcome will be usually healthy babies!

The chances of having twins or multiples increases greatly while you are taking clomid. You should consider this with your family planning, as there is a greater chance for more than one child being conceived with this medication. Woman should be cautious of clomid if this is not part of their family plannning.

The chance of conceiving triplets or higher orders of multiples is considered to be very low and comparable to an average woman's chance of doing the same. Conceiving twins is approximately 10% more likely than average while using Clomid.

You would have a 20% chance of having twins or multiples if you are on this drug. If you already have twins or are over the age of 45, the chances of multiple births increase.
