Many cars have a linkage connected to the shifter, which undoes the lock that holds the car in park. Depressing the brake pedal is the trigger to realease the lock.

The brake switch also controls the transmission lock so you cant shift out of park unless your foot is on the brake. Could be a defective or misaligned brake switch, usually somewhere on the brake pedal arm under the dash. Check it.

The only thing I know of that would make a sound like that would be the abs system. Check out the whole system or take it to a shop.

More than likely you are hearing you ABS system working. Still you may want to may a professional mechanic take a look at the system. The noise may be a result of some type of problem in the system.

Most cars have an automatic sensor in the brake system or actually made into the pad. Sensor in the pad will sound like a squeak or click when the brake pads are near the end of the servicable life. New pads and a brake system check should fix this problem

If you are hearing a clicking sound when you depress your brake pedal it could be caused by the brake light switch malfunction.

the clicking sound when you depress your pedal could be because you are getting low on brake fluid and it needs some more. you can put brake fluid in by opening your hood and there is a jug that contains your brake fluid. it also tells you how much to put in
