Essentially glass bricks are the same as regular red bricks. Just like red brick, it is very difficult to break these bricks. Glass bricks are used, for internal projects, when privacy and visual obscuration is requested but light is also necessary.

Glass brick is more ornamental than structural. Since it is made of very thick glass, it can be chipped or even broken. It is glued rather than mortared in place. It can be used to admit light into a building, or as a room divider. It was fashionable in the 1920's, and had a revival around 30 years ago.
