Shutters made in vinyl, pvc, wood and aluminum. Choose according to your climate. Non-wood shutters usually have pre-drilled holes where screws go. Hold shutter next to window, adjust placement. Insert pencil through hole and mark. Drill pilot hole, apply caulk around pilot hole. Push screw through shutter and install.

To install outdoor shutters, use a long level to keep both aligned. They don't get damaged often if they are vinyl, which is made for all weather.

Follow the product instructions. Decide if you want shutters to close over the window(use a hinge set) or secured to each side of window. Minimal damage in most climates.
