The Middle Colonies are the states that are now New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, and Delaware. These colonies were also known as the Bread Colonies because this region produced so much the grain, oats, and wheat. They also shared characteristics of both the northern and southern colonies, creating a unique area.
