What should I feed the deer that run through my backyard?

Avoid feeding wildlife, not only for dietary reasons but it will attract more animals to your yard. You can feed them unprocessed foods such as whole wheat crackers and grains.

You probably shouldn't feed them anything. Deer are wild animals, and can and should find their own food. Feeding them can make them dependent on humans, as well as taming them to the point where they don't fear humans as they should.

Well, they are herbivores. So things like apples, and other fruits and vegetables that can be grown in your area are a good idea. Bread will also work.

Don't feed them anything unless you value seeing these deer more than you value your backyard bushes, trees, and garden. If you give them a handout, they will be back, even when you have not put something for them. Better to find a place away from your yard. They like dried corn, and a block of salt.
