A judgment can not be contested or reversed without the consent of the defendant, only he can initiate a plea.

It will depend on the jurisdiction. Typically, the law disfavors default judgments and there will be a procedure to ask for the default to be 'vacated'. You will need usually need to demonstrate a meritorious defense and a reasonable explanation as to your failure to respond.
