Seagata and Wester Digital these are the only brands that i trust and that i use. I have been using these 2 brands for over 10 years and never had a problem with them. They'll boost the performance of your PC. Both are less noisy and produce less heat, at full load.

This is a very subjective question and the best answer is that there really isn't a best hard drive on the market. There are many different sizes and types which can vary in price and they all do a good job. Good companies are Seagate, Maxtor and Western Digital.

A good hard drive is fast, 7200rpm and has enough of cache memory for example 16mb. Flash drives are even faster. If you are looking for an external drive and your computer has Firewire or eSata you should go for a one of those instead of USB.
