Right scapular pain could be caused by a pinching nerve. Therefore, you may want to massage the area in a tough circular motion to get rid of the conflicting pain.

Pain at or below the scapula may be referred pain stemming from conditions of the gall bladder, biliary tree, spleen, liver, stomach, or lungs. It may also be due to a neck, shoulder, or back muscle strain. Due to such a large range of possible causes, it is recommended to see your doctor.

Many things could cause pain in the shoulder. It probably is a pulled muscle, which could have happened by over-extending the shoulder joint, pulling on something too hard, ect. It could be a dislocated shoulder, bone spurs, infection in the area of the shoulder, or many other things, but if the pain is bad, call the doctor.

If the pain is a tenderness and hurts during movement of your arm/shoulder it is probably a sprained muscle, if the pain persists for a while (a couple of weeks) it could be a torn muscle. If the pain is sharp and eminates from the spine to the scapula region then it may be a dislodged or damaged nerve

Right scapular pain can be caused by an injury. A bone disorder such as a slipped disc may also be a cause, as well as a muscle disorder or even referred pain from another area.

There are several nerves as well as muscles below and around each scapula. Muscle strain is the most likely cause. These muscles are easily irritated from simple movements such as typing or driving long distances. Trying anti-inflammatories first is the best option for treatment.

Just talking from experience; I did stranuous exercise after such a long period of no exercises then I felt some sharp pain on my right anterior chest. The stitches radiated to my back and landed on my right scapular. within seconds I couldn't turn my neck or lift up myand.
