Yes, it can cause back pain if the cancer spreads to the lower spine somehow. This process is called metastasis. Small cells of the cancer travel via blood stream or lymph vessels and deposit on the spine. This is generally a bad prognosis in survival.

Advanced colon cancer could cause back pain if it has sent metastasize to the spine. Destructive lesions of the spine would cause local deep pain.

it is possible that colon cancer cause back pain when colon cancer metastasize to bone. But wants to know what specifically would cause the pain, the best way is to find a doctor and take a detailed examination to find what is going on in your body.

First, there could literally be a spread of the cancer to other body parts that would present with pain. Specifically, cancers often spread to the spinal column. Second, the abdominal cavity does a pretty poor job of localizing pain. The pain in the back could just be poor localization.
