A xerophyte is a plant that is able to live in locations with a limited to low source of flowing water or moisture, such as deserts, and frozen artic areas The most common xerophyte is the cactus. They usually have needle like leaves that allow them to pick up minute levels of moisture, which they can store for long periods.
