HCG levels vary in early pregnancy and by pregnancy, especially when multiples are in question. Multiple pregnancy will result in higher hcg levels by 20 to 200 points over that of a singleton pregnancy. Depending on the day in which the pregnancy serum test is performed will also determine levels.

It is more telling if the level more than doubles every three days than what the exact number is. Mine went from 178 to 512 in three days--TWINS!

High HCG levels alone will not confirm multiples. It is more likely that you are having multiples if your HCG levels increase at a higher rate. It is common for levels to double every 48 hours, and triple or quadruple for multiples. An ultrasound is the only true confirmation.

HcG levels vary from woman to woman and pregnancy to pregnancy. HcG levels at the high end of the range or above can be indicative of a multiple pregnancy. The HcG range for the 7th-8th week of pregnancy is 7,650-229,00. This is just a range. If that range doubles chances are even higher of having multiples.
