There are many types of computer memory here are a few . Simm single inline memory module.Dimm dual in line memory module. Then there is rimm is known as rambus which is very expensive. ddr and ddr2. dynamic ram -dram. There are many other types the ddr, ddr2, ddr3, are the newer ones.

RAM is random access memory. It is the memory a computer uses when executing software. This memory contains data only when the computer is "on". ROM is read only memory. This is the memory used to store information (files) long term.
