Under federal law, an employer is not required to give lunch breaks or coffee breaks. State law specifies the length and frequency of breaks.

for every four hours you work, you are entitled to a 15 minute, paid break. If you work 8 hours you are entitled to a half hour lunch, but you may not be paid for it.
