Cafe au lait spots are light brown and don't fade, port wine are pale pink to red, stork bites are also pink and generally fade with time,Mongolian blue spots, freckles, vascular birthmarks are more common in females. Moles are the most common and often appear in the same place in members of the same family.

There are different types some are called strawberries and some are moles. They are also called freckles. Usually birthmarks are paler in color.

They may vary in size, shape, placement on the body. Some may be brown others red, some may be flat on the skin and barely noticable, others may stand out.
