Some trees that grow on the dessert would be Juniper, Cypress and certain types of pine as well are ideal for dessert growing and climate similar to dessert conditions. Surprisingly - citrus trees can grow in the dessert as well.

The Joshua tree is a popular desert tree. They are the largest of the yucca family and quite beautiful. Cottonwood trees can grow up to 90 feet and usually make their home close to a water source. Although not a tree, the tumbleweed is a well-known desert shrub that tumbles and rolls around freely.
