What should the ph of your soil be in order to grow strong health walnut trees?

I am going to plant several walnut trees in my back yard and am concerned that the ph level of the soil will cause them to not grow right.

The pH of the soil should be close to neutral, meaning that the ideal pH level should be between 5. 5 and 7. 5 in order for the walnut tree to grow healthy and strong. However, within the neutral levels, your best bet would most likely be a pH of seven, or as close to that number as possible.

The best way to grow a healthy strong walnut tree is to plant the tree in direct sun light with well drained soil. A neutral pH is best suited for walnut trees, but they are able to withstand a pH of 7 to 8. Soil with a medium level of phosphorus, potassium and sulfur is best for the walnut tree.

The walnut trees grow on soil that has a Ph level of approximately 6. 5 to 8. 0 and hence you should also check your soil before planting the tree.

Walnut trees are widely adapted, however they do prefer a soil PH of 6. 5 to 7. 5. They are very slow growing the first few years, and need adequate water to grow well. They are also very adaptable to a wide variety of soils, with the exception of heavy clay. A soil test would determine PH and missing nutrients.
