The are overlays that are place on top of your natural nails and usually contain acrylic and nylon. Once they are applied, the can be shaped/painted as usual.

Sculptured nails are created by applying either acrylic powder or gel over your real nails and then shaping them. The nails are very hard and much stronger than your real nails, so they are much more durable, and polish generally stays on longer.

Sculpture nails are a process where a form is placed arount the natural nail and then a liquid is placed on the nail, to build it out to the desired length. No false nail is placed under this procedure. The nail is than filed and buffed to look more like a natural nail.
