There is no need to change eating habits after having an appendix removed. This is because the appendix is an organ with no real function. Any foods you eat with or without it will have no effect on your body in regards to the appendix.

Well, after a surgery, you would want to recover better. This means more fresh fruit, vegetables, less of meat products, and a lot less alcohol. You need vitamins and minerals, especially vitamin C and zinc for wound recovery.

I had my appendix taken out 5 years ago and I did not have to change my diet at all.The appendix has nothing to do with digesting foods.

i just had my appendix taken out two days ago.... hurts like hell. The doctor and nurse said nothing about changing the diet. Just for the next 3 weeks lots of fruit, veggies, prune juice, high fibre foods. And relax as much as we can, not lifting over 10 pounds.

Change in diet is not necessary, however after having appendix out, one has to take more fruits and food contain more fibre, which will avoid constipation. Drink six to eight glasses of water.
