Could there be a connection between being hypothyroid and having a light period?

The hormones that are related to the menstrual cycle are effected by the thyroid. Less hormones, such as estrogen or progesterone, may be released due to hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism can change the flow and the frequency of period. It can also intensify menstrual symptoms, such as an increase in menstrual migraines.

yes my friend found this out cause she had irregular periods and the dr told her that if she had thyroid problems it can cause problems with your period.

Yes, there definitely is a connection. Your thyroid can affect nearly any body system. I know for a fact that even starting a new birth control pill can make an adjustment in you thyroid medication necessary. Women are also more likely to be hypothyroid.
