Question by  Jmontlear (15)

Will a 3.5 ton condenser work with a 2.5 ton evaporator?

Before I use this equipment, I need to know if it's dangerous for them to be used together.

It is not dangerous, but the evaporator is too small for the condenser. With the evaporator being one ton of air conditioner to small, it will not work properly. You would have to have a 3. 5 ton evaporate to be a match system so the refrigerant would work properly.

Depending on operating voltage, capacity, automatic turn-off safety features of 2. 5 ton evaporator, it may be dangerous. Condenser is able to withstand more pressure and put out tremendous energy (possibly too much for evaporator). Unless you are not coming anywhere near 2. 5 ton mark, do not use.

It is not dangerous to use different sized equipment but the equipment may not perform as well as advertised. HVAC equipment should be within. 5 tons of other equipment.

No it wont work. The evaporator can be. 5 tons bigger and work good but the condensor can not be bigger at all. The condensor unit will be too strong and cause unwanted conditions to the evaporator.
