Why is my color TV now black and white?

TV video is made of 3 colors, red green and blue. If all that you have available is black and white, that means that there is a problem somewhere that is common to both the red and blue color circuits, and that the green color stream is still working. I'd suggest a tv repair shop.

The culprit is your picture tube. Your options are that either you need to change the picture tube or buy a new TV.

Usually this is caused by a loose wire or intermittent component. You can take it to a TV repair shop, but it may be cheaper to buy a new one.

That sounds like a serious problem. Some television sets have a function where you can change the picture to black and white. Check that first. If that's not the problem, you might have a failing picture tube. That would require very expensive repairs. Most likely you will just need to purchase a new set.

Some TVs have a menu option that allows you to change the color scheme and get rid of the color TV. But most of the time, it's something wrong with your TV itself, a classic sign that you need a new one.

Someone may have accidently adjusted the color setting to a neutral setting, making in black and white. Go to the TV setting and restore the color to it's original setting.
