Normally this means either your home is not getting cool enough to reach the temperature set on the thermostat, or your thermostat is not working properly. If it is a thermostat problem, then a visit to a hardware store will yield an assortment of thermostat models.

This is a common problem that people have with air conditioner units. You should try to change it to an auto setting and set a temperature. If this doesn't work check the air filter to your air conditioner. It could be dirty and causing some problems. If all else fails shut the power down.

Air conditioner can be improperly sized and not meeting the demand. The filters could need changed. If the filters were never changed, the evaporator coils could be plugged with dirt, the condensor could be plugged with dirt, or the system low on charge.
