Why don't more people have bedroom refrigerators?

Those small ones are not expensive, and the convenience would be really nice. You could get a cold drink during the night, or have breakfast cereal or cold orange juice in bed.

I like the idea, but there is at least one potential unintended consequence (which could be a great benefit). Refrigerators act as dehumidifiers, so if you do want to remove humidity from the air in your bedroom it actually would work in your favor.

It's an interesting idea. Usually going to the kitchen isn't that much of an inconvenience though. If it is for you, by all means get a bedroom fridge. Good idea.

To start off, most people do not need the convenience because they do not spend most of their time in the bedroom, which they use solely for sleeping.

Another thing to consider is the noise that refrigerators make when the compressor turns on. Modern refrigerators are relatively quiet, but, if you are a light sleeper, you still might get woken up during the middle of the night.

Small dorm refrigerators have long been associated with the younger set for their living away from home in college campus settings. In actuality, most home bedrooms simply don't contain enough floor space to accommodate a small refrigerator unit. Also, you must remember, the kitchen is the heart of a home and some habits are too hard to change.

While it may be convenient for someone with a disability, it doesn't make sense for healthy people. It's just lazy and sloppy to eat in bed on a regular basis.

They consume a lot of energy and most people find it easy enough to just get up out of bed and go to the fridge. Another thing people don't really like is the whole food in the bedroom concept. Most people don't like food in there because it attracts bugs and rodents.

It's not a bad idea - you must live in a huge house where your bedroom is very far from the kitchen. My bedroom is just a few steps away from the kitchen so a bedroom refrigerator doesn't make too much sense.

It is doubtful that many people live in a house so gigantic they they couldn't get up and go to their kitchen for food and drink during the night. There is another issue that of cleanliness, it would be a challenge to keep this area in an acceptable condition.

Clearly you all have the luxury of never having lived with people that will eat your food or allow their guests to eat your food. That is why you would want a fridge in their bedroom. Duh.
