Why does my washing machine smell like mildew?

Anything that gets wet can cause mildew, or have the smell of mildew. Clean out your washer and spray it with a deodorizer. Clean out the filter and give it a rest so it can fully dry out.

Remnant fibers from washed clothes may be clogging the water filters. Try to check the lint compartment if there is one and clean it out by emptying the debris and thoroughly washing the receptacle. Check the water intake flex pipe and the sewage water pipe. Service drum is the machine is old.

You must clean your washing machine after using & regularly second thing after using your washing machine keep open to dry, if there is water and you keep close then it will smell like mildew. Whenever you use your washing machine note that you must use good brand of washing powder too.

rubber gasket in side washing machhine might have bcome old or continues dampness or some spilling on the cloth could cause smell like mildew.

It is due to the mildewy of all the cloths that are washed will smell. To remove, rinse it with hot water with small quantity of detergent and chlorine powder.
