Many times, aching joints in this situation are simply caused by too much stress. Running, especially on hard surfaces like asphalt, can be very jarring to your bones and tissues. Try investing in a new pair of quality shoes, or taking a break from your running routine. If this doesn't help, consult a doctor.

Sometimes its hard to put a specific injury on a hurt knee. Its possible if your a frequent runner that you have "Runner's Knee" or "ITB syndrome".

A common injury when running is "Runner's Knee. " Perhaps this is the problem you are experiencing? Runner's knee is basically when your kneecap (patella) gets out of its track and starts rubbing against bone.

Knee pain associated with running could be the result of many things. Including but not limited to acl tear, previous injury or strain on the knee from wearing the wrong shoes. If the pain becomes bothersome you should consult with an Orthopedic surgeon to determine the exact cause and solution to the pain.

I could be due to an unknown injury that was sustained or something might be out of alignment. I would check with your doctor to have it evaluated. Maybe for the time being try wearing a brace while you run or limit your running till it can be evaluated by a doctor.

Your shoes may not fit properly or you might trip or fallen while running. Your concentration might have diverted to other subjects.
