Having low RPMs are not always bad. It could be that your transmission is geared low. To change requires a lot of time and work.

The car has a deep voice. The designers at Chevrolet figured a sexy low-pitched hum to the engine would complement the car's design.

Well it is not clear what you mean by "low rpms". If the truck won't accelerate then you may have engine issues. Check your computer to see if there are any trouble codes.

Depending on the year of your vehicle and also on the engine it uses, I would say it's probably just your idle controller set too low. See your owners manual to locate your idle control under the hood and adjust it to a satisfactory RPM at idle.

This is a frequent complaint from Chevy owners. In an effort to improve fuel economy Chevy deliberately lowered RPMS. Although mileage did show some marginal improvement Chevy owners hide their head in shame when asked by Ford and Dodge owners what their RPM numbers are. There are some after market kits that will help, but they can get expensive.

I have had the same issue. My issue was a vacuum leak in the vacuum system. Be sure to check all of your vacuum hoses and connections for leaks.
