Why does a ladybug have spots?

Not all ladybugs have spots. For those that do, it is believed that the bright red color and contrasting spots are to warn predators that they are poisonous. If a predator does eat a ladybug they discover they have a bad taste. After that, the bright red color and black spots serve as a constant warning to remember.

Ladybugs use their spots for protection. They are a red color, which is usually used in signaling perdators that there is danger in eating them, and that they might be poisionous. Their spots are black, and tell their preadators that they are not good to eat. Their spots do NOT help them fly!
