They cannot be traced - this makes them perfect for people operating, shall we say, "outside the law". One examples would be drug dealers in the TV show "The Wire".

Some prefer this kind of phone because it is cheaper and if they buy a more expensive phone, it would be hard for them to throw it away. Although disposable phones offer less quality, I could say that it is still a sure hit on those who would not want to be left out with the latest innovation.

I think disposable cells are wasteful and I can only hope the people who buy them recycle them. Its a waste of time and money to make them. A couple of reasons I can think of them being is to have them like on an international trip, or maybe if your calling somebody your not suppose to.

I've seen cheap pay as you go phones but no "disposable" ones. Go-phones are good if you need a temporary number or don't want someone to know who is calling.

I bought a disposable because it was cheap. I have read some books where criminals use the disposable ones so that no one can track them.
