It could be a heat rash. Heat rashes are caused by extremely hot and humid conditions, like saunas. The symptoms would be a red rash and an itching, prickling sensation.

The heat of the sauna causes blood to rush to the surface of the skin. This can irritate the capilaries and cause what looks like a rash. Use cold packs on the areas that look the worst; this will cool the body and calm the redness as well as contract the blood vessles.

You may have contact dermatitis. People who suffer from contact dermatitis are sensitive to heat and cold changes. Anything that dries out your skin can affect the condition.

It could be an allergic reaction to the wood or something in the steam, or you could be picking up a minor infection from unclean equipment. A rash only on your face might mean you have rosacea that's being irritated by the heat and humidity. If the rash lingers, go see your doctor.
