Question by  ravuri58 (2)

Why am I falling asleep quite early in the night immediately after taking food or sitting down to watch TV?

I get 7-8 hours of sleep at night and sleep well. I don't feel tired in the a.m.

You are eating too late and haven't digested the food. Try eating earlier in the evening to digest completely. Instead of watching TV, try an energy burning activity like Yoga.

Taking food makes your body able to keep itself warm and because you got a full tummy you feel satisfied. These are usually reasons why you feel more comfortable to fall asleep. Also, while sitting in front of the tv, you allow your body and mind to relax itself.

After food, your body diverts blood to the digestive system, away from the brain. TV is not very stimulating so perhaps your brain just wants to shut off.

Your body is probably just tired from the day's work. You may need more than 7-8 hours of sleep (some people need up to 10 hours of sleep).
