The Star Wars books were written by Troy Denning, Christie Golden, Jude Watson, Aaron Allston. However,there are some people who claimed that the original texts were written by Oliver Simon in 1969.

Jude Watson wrote many of the books set in the time before the movies. Others authored short stories, novella, and novels based in different time periods or focused on different topics. For example, the Junior Jedi Knights series of six books were written by Nancy Richardson and Rebecca Moesta.

There were many authors of Star Wars books. Jude Watson wrote many of the children's series, Kevin J. Anderson and Roger Macbride Allen wrote some of the adult books. George Lucas wrote the original series.

There are many Star Wars novels, spun off from the original films or based in the Star Wars Universe. The original "Novelizations" were written by Alan Dean Foster.

The person who wrote the original Star Wars books which the film was based on was George Lucas, there have however been a countless amount of other star wars books released and enjoyed by the millions of fans, these authors include Jude Watson, Karen Traviss, Elizabeth Hand, Paul and Hollace Davids and countless others.

George Lucas wrote the orginal screen play for all six movies,but as for the books there have been numerous writers,some of them excellent science fiction writers such as Troy Denning, Karen Traviss, Kevin J. Anderson and the writer of the most liked series in the Star wars book universe Timothy Zahn.

There has never actually been a book on star wars prior to the movie release. Confusion arose because Star Wars series has been directed several times. Recent movies in series are called Star Wars, and the one created back in 1977 is often referred to as "the book".

George Lucas granted licensing to Bantam Books to release a series of Star Wars comics and graphic novels. They were not all authored by one person but rather a series of authors including: Troy Denning, Christie Golden, Jude Watson, Aaron Allston.

Actually, the books came after George Lucas created the movies. That happens with a lot of movies; they write the books after the films become successful. In this case, Lucas gave Bantam Books the right to create the novels (and Bantam hired the writers.)

My Mother born in 1923 and remembers reading Star Wars books when a kid. When she saw the movie on VHS she kept saying she had read about Luke Skywalker, Oi-wan-kinobe (sic)whne a kid. How did she know about those charachters when she never saw the movie.
