"The Boy called Hit" is part of a trilogy by Dave Pelzer detailing the authour's account of being brutalized as a young child, notably by his mother. Before school officials intervened when he was 12, Pelzer describes horrific memories such as his being made to drink ammonia and starved. The subsequent novels continue his story into adulthood.

This book is the first in a series of three autobiographical books. It was published in 1995 and written by David Pelzer. The series documents his experience of abuse by his alcoholic mother.
