The cups were created in 1928 by Henry Reese, shipping foreman for the Hershey co. and former dairy farmer. He went on to open his own company, The H.B. Reese Candy Co., which then sold to Hershey in the 60's.

Harry Burnett Reese invited Reese's Peanut Butter Cups in 1928. He was inspired by the founder of Hershey's Chocolate, Milton S. Hershey.

Reese's Peanut Butter cups were invented by Harry Burnett Reese in 1928. He was a dairy farmer who just liked the combination. He started a door-to-door candy company, using Hershey's chocolate in the candies. The peanut butter cups were most popular, and eventually the Hershey company bought them.
