Baba Ram Dass is Richard Alpert (b. 1931), a spiritual teacher best known for his association with Tim Leary at Harvard University in the 1960s. Ram Dass wrote the bestselling "Remember Be Here Now" in 1971.

Richard Alpert, AKA Ram Dass, is an American Hindu spiritual leader born in 1931 to a Massachusetts Jewish family. He and Timothy Leary were responsible for the Harvard Psilocybin Project and conducting other experiments with hallucinogens. In 1967 he went to India where he adopted the Hindu beliefs and lifestyle.

Ram Dass is the name of a former colleague of Timothy Leary's. Ram Dass is a westerner who adopted the name "Ram Dass". Under that name he presented himself as a kind of spiritual leader and guru. He recounted many of his spiritual exploits and experiences in several books, one entitled "Be Here Now."

Ram Dass, was a Harvard professor until his dismissal for experiments with LSD. Later, he became Hindu, wrote "Remember, Be here Now" and founded the Seva and Hanuman Foundation.
