Lil Wayne does not know his father. From what he has said is father left him and his mother when he was younger. Lil Wayne considers Byran "Baby" Williams, a famous rapper, and president of his label "Cash Money records" his father now and even references him in many of his songs.

The name of Li'l Wayne's dad is Dwayne Michael Carter. His parents divorced when Wayne was young and Wayne has been dismissive of his dad's presence of his life. He told Katie Couric that he was born Dwayne but dropped the "D" from his name to distance himself from his dad. Dwayne Michael Carter died in 1996.
