Crawford (1911-1986) was an Oscar-winning actor who made the successful transition to TV in the 1950's where he starred in a popular cop show series. His career began with movies in the 1930's and lasted almost until his death in 1986. He was known for a gravelly-sounding voice and looks that were not typical of a leading man.

Broderick Crawford was an actor whose career started in the 1930's and continued well into the 1950's and 60's. He won the academy award for best actor in 1949.
