If you want the fan to cool a room, then the fan turn counterclock wise. If you want a fan to pull warm air to help heat then the fan should turn clock wise.

Most like it spinning Counter-Clockwise to get the blowing effect. In homes with multiple fans, by having some spin clockwise and other Counter-clockwise can set up circulating air currents through the home. This increases the efficiency of heating and air conditioning systems. Which way it spins is up to you.

It all depends on the season/temperature of the air. If cooler air is desired, the fan should spin in clock-wise fashion. IF warmer air circulation is needed, the fan should spin in a counter-clockwise spin

It really shouldn't matter which way the fan spins. As long as it spins fast enough for it to serve it's purpose, the direction doesn't matter.
