In terms of value/dollar, I'd have to recommend a Sony Playstation 3 of all things. It costs $299 new and much less used - cheap for a BD-DVD player.

It depends what amount of money are you willing to spend on it. they come really cheap but also very expensive. Let's say that you don't have a lot of money €50 - €100. Here the best buy according to the comparing sites : Philips DVP 3350/12 €53,94

The Playstation 3-- it is one of the cheapest HD players; it is fully supported by Sony, and is a high definition video game system as well.

The Curtis Mathes CMMBX72 is a best buy Blu-Ray High Definition DVD player. This player incorporates feature typically seen in higher priced models. This player handles Blu-Ray and standard definition DVD's and outputs the data at a full 1080P signal to your high definition TV.

The only format for high definition video is BluRay. HD-DVD has been discontinued. The Sony BDP-S350 is a good value for a BluRay player. Also consider the Sony PlayStation3.
