Where should I make a hair donation?

I hear "Locks of Love" is having to throw hair away because they get too much.

Other charities that accept donations of hair are Pantene Beautiful Lengths, Locks of Love and Wigs for Kids. Locks of Love only throws away or sells unusable hair.

Wigs for Kids is a wonderful program. It was started by Jeffrey Paul, a successful hairdresser. The other program for hair donations is Pantene beautiful lengths. These wigs are free to women who has lost their hair. Pantene helps donators find a new style for their short hair.

Clip for the Cure is a great alternative to Locks of Love. They are known more recently for their work during Breast Cancer Awareness month.

They NEVER throw hair away. Even if it misses the amount of inches by one or two inches, they still keep it for bangs or color variations in their wigs. Make sure that the hair donated is 10 inches braided or in a ponytail from tip to tip. The address is 234 Southern Blvd. West Palm Beach, FL 33405-3099

Hair donations can be made at many different locations. There are hair salons who will cut your hair for free if it's for charity. I would suggest the Fuchsia foundation.

Call your local salons, they should be able to point you to local agencies that accept hair for those less fortunate.

Donate it to the group that is cleaning up the gulf. Hair is used to absorb the oil, and it works very well. Ask your local salon on where to send your hair to for this.
