Most bees and wasps survive by collecting together inside their hive. They rotate positions from the center to the outside edges in order to insure they all remain warm. They also vibrate or "buzz" to produce energy and heat. They survive by eating the honey they have made.

Honeybees do not hibernate except for the queen. The rest do not leave the hive during winter. They "cluster" together to generate heat. In the fall, social wasp colonies are abandoned by the fertilized females(future queens). They find winter shelter but the wasps that remain behind die in the cold.
