Where did music originate from?

No one really knows, as it came about before we had writing. Generally it's believed that started to mimic natural sounds and rhythms. Googling the Pentatonic scale may help, this scale exists in most all cultures and a lot of research has been done about it lately.

Every culture has music or drums in its history. Music serves many purposes, including communication, celebration, expressing feelings, relaxing. Look at cultures from Africa, China, Russia, native American tribes, Mexico, and Europe. Refer also to historical books such as the Bible, where music is used to praise, pray, and mourn.
