Talk to your hairdresser. Rest assured that any school that produces graduates who can pass the licensing exam, secure employment and build a client base has a "good reputation. " Schools that fail to produce successful graduates don't last long; word gets around quickly. Visit the schools. Do your research. You'll know which one is right for you.

A good place to start would be to ask the person who does your hair where they went to hairdressing college. Also check your local yellow pages to get any listings. Your local unemployment office may be a good resource investigate any hairdressing colleges.

Start by looking at the community colleges in your state. They are accredited by a state or regional association, so they will have a "good reputation". They are also cheaper than private trade schools. Mitchells and Troutmans are known nationwide to be good, but they are also expensive trade schools.

Try searching on an internet search engine. You can also call around to different hairdressers asking how they obtained their training. Most likely they will be more then happy to share with you how they became hairdressers. Look for email addresses to different beauty salons, and ask them the same question.
