Transplanting is recommended after chances of frost, but it is a hardy plant and grows practically anywhere you put it as long as it has a root. You can remove the annoying bits growing here or there and plant it under places you find it hard to grow anything else.

Monkey grass can be transplanted after the last frost of the year through mid-summer. After it is transplanted it will need time to establish itself to survive cold weather and if it is transplanted after midsummer it may not be able to do this.

Wait until there is no chance for further frost to transplant your monkey grass. You can then continue transplanting throughout the summer. When transplanting make sure the monkey grass has a chance to take strong root. You will also want to softly rake across it during the first 2-3 weeks after transplantation.

Monkey grass is very hardy and will grow almost any place. It can take sun or shape. It is easy to transplant this grass as long as you include ample roots with the grass you are going to transplant. The best time to transplant is when there is no chance of frost. You can transplant through mid-summer.

In the early spring, after you are sure there is no chance of another frost, you can transplant monkey grass. To make sure it will grow, take plenty of roots along with the section of grass you want to transplant. Transplanting should be done from a well established area of monkey grass.

If you live in an area where monkey grass does not die back in the winter, you can transplant it any time. Monkey grass is a very robust plant and is happy to be moved or divided.
