What's the value of a 1826 buffalo nickel?

Answer by  Krissie (551)

I think you have your year wrong. Nickels weren't minted for about 40 years after the date you claim to have. Buffalo nickels weren't minted at all until the early 1900's. If you meant a 1926 buffalo nickel, based on the condition and type, the value could range anywhere from 40 cents to 4 dollars.

Nickels were not minted until 1866, so that cannot be a correct date. It may be 1926, as nickels with the buffalo were only minted between 1913 and 1938. An average worn nickel in that year has a value of about $.85.

Buffalo nickels were minted from 1913 to 1938. The coin you have is a reproduction. The value of a 1926 Buffalo in Good condition is $0.40 or $4.00 for a D-Series.
