Law enforcement agencies in the U. S. have a minimum age requirement of 21. Most require a high school diploma and at least a few years of college. Many applicants have served in the military.

In Florida it's 19, but caution should be used because a lot of emotional maturity is needed for the job, and a lot of 19-year-olds don't have that yet.
