Try to give guests something that they will use or a donation to a charity which is close to your heart. Consumable items also are great - candy tables, cookie tables, etc.

ONe wedding I went to, they gave away hand painted champagne flutes with the date on the bottom. It was a really cute idea and it was a useful giveaway that people wanted to keep and use after the party ended. Picture frames are also a cute idea with pictures taken on the day.

Candles and pictures are very nice wedding favors. For my wedding we had white boxes with our names handwritten in calligraphy and filled with miniature candy bars with custom labels and Jordan almonds. Whatever you choose make it as personal as you can to you and your fiance and people will look at it and remember your special day.
