Find out your calorie requirements, which depends on activity level and gender. Start cutting out 300-500 calories per day. This can be done relatively easily; cut out soft drinks, mindless snacking, and eating when you're bored. Get daily physical activity. Walk 50 feet, then jog for 10. Keep this up everyday for a month and you will see a difference.

Eat fewer calories. It doesn't matter if you eat low carb or low fat, just fewer total calories. Also, take up walking.
