What were the names of the original members of the band KISS?

The original founding members of KISS were bassist Gene Simmons (birth name Chaim Witz) and rhythm guitarist Paul Stanley (birth name Stanley Harvey Eisen), originally playing in the band Wicked Lester. They recruited Peter Criss (Peter George John Criscuola) to drum and then added lead guitarist Ace Frehley (Paul David Frehley) after an audition.

The co-founders of KISS were Chaim Witz (Gene Simmons) and Stanley Harvey Eisen (Paul Stanley), although they were named Wicked Lester. George Peter John Criscuola (Peter criss) joined later as drummer under Wicked Lester, then Paul Frehley (Ace Frehley) joined as lead guitarist and thus completing KISS!

Gene Simmons sung and played bass, Paul Stanley played guitar, Peter Criss played drums, and Ace Frehley also played guitar.

Kiss was formed in 1972 with Gene Simmons with makeup as The Demon on vocals and bass, Paul Stanley as The Starchild on vocals and rhythm guitar, Ace Frehely made up as the Spaceman on vocals and lead guitar, and Peter Criss as Catman on vocals and percussion. Frehely and Criss left the group in 1982.

The original KISS band members lineup from late December 1972 to late May 1980 were Paul Stanley who was the rhythm guitar and lead vocals, Gene Simmons, the bass and lead vocals, Ace Frehley, the lead guitar and vocals, and Peter Criss, the drums and vocals. Gene and Paul are the only constants.
